Rebekka & Alex

BALZWERK® was born out of our own needs in 2017 and has become an established name in security furniture. We are delighted with this development. Through continuous innovation, new developments and adapting our products to our customers' needs, we are proud to be the right partner for them. Security is our greatest motivation, and we work on all our BALZWERK® products with enthusiasm every day. BALZWERK® grew out of Highland Motorcycles.

We had enough, there had to be an alternative to be able to store everything safely and inconspicuously during day-to-day business. Then it came, the idea of a shelf with a secret compartment.

Alex, Managing Director BALZWERK®

Highland Motorcycles: who are they?
Highland Motorcycles was founded in 2014 as Alex's long-held dream and has since grown into one of southern Germany's largest customisers of American motorcycles.
This is how Highland Motorcycles gave rise to BALZWERK®…
In our first premises, we faced the same problem every day: motorcycle keys and important documents always had to be taken to the safe upstairs. It felt like Groundhog Day: whose turn was it to carry the keys today? We had had enough. Surely there was another way to store everything securely and discreetly during the working day. Then came the idea of a shelf with a secret compartment. With the idea in place, we searched for suitable furniture with a secret compartment, but without success. So we decided to make it ourselves. “It can't be that difficult,” we thought.
We were wrong: it was not so simple at first. But our motto had always been that nothing is impossible. We were determined to find a solution. And then it was hanging on the wall: our first Balzboard Flap, black and discreet.
Suddenly, customers and friends began asking us about the shelf and where we had found this shelf with a secret compartment. And that is how it all began…
With Balzwerk growing rapidly, the enormous potential of our products, their continuous development and the wealth of new ideas and possibilities, Alex decided in 2023 to devote his passion entirely to Balzwerk and hand Highland Motorcycles over to his long-standing employee Tim.

Why BALZWERK®?

Quite simply, Tim and Reinhard supported our BALZWERK® project in its early years, and we were able to use premises in Balzheim. Since all our furniture with secret compartments is genuine joinery craftsmanship made in Germany, we felt the name BALZWERK® suited us perfectly, bringing all these elements together. As more customers asked us about safes, our ambition was sparked again, although at first we had no idea how to make it happen.

It was 5:13 in the morning, while making breakfast. Yes, while making breakfast! Rebekka could not let go of the thought of putting a safe inside our furniture, and suddenly the idea came to her. She hurried into the bedroom to tell her still-sleeping husband the good news: “Darling, I've got it! We'll simply put the safe in the Slider board.” Being woken at 5:20 a.m. did not initially inspire much enthusiasm or understanding. But once everyone was fully awake and the idea had been clearly explained, the whole team was captivated: a safe or gun cabinet concealed inside furniture we had designed ourselves.
And there it was: our Balzblock, a safe or gun cabinet beautifully and discreetly housed in a piece of furniture designed for that purpose. Over the years, we have built relationships with wonderful partners who help bring our visions to life. This trust and shared approach allow us to fulfil our customers' wishes quickly and easily.
Our joiners and metalworkers have exceptionally high standards of quality. They treat all our specially developed furniture with secret compartments, their metal structures, and our safes and gun cabinets with the greatest care and precision.
How did the safe finally come about?
